The most common causes include:

1. Failure to ovulate:

Ovulation failure, which affects 40% of women with infertility problems, is the most frequent general cause of female infertility. Numerous factors can prevent ovulation, including:

Gynecological or ovarian disorders, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) (PCOS).

Aging, which includes a reduced ovarian reserve. This describes a woman's ovaries having fewer eggs than typical as she ages.

Endocrine abnormalities, such as thyroid illness or issues with the hypothalamus, have an impact on how much or how little of a certain hormone or collection of hormones the body produces.

growths that develop within and around the uterine wall, however, the majority of women with fibroids are fertile and able to become pregnant. However, some women with fibroids may find it difficult to conceive naturally, experience multiple miscarriages, or give birth prematurely. Treatment stage:-

4. INFECTIONS:

Women with untreated venereal diseases like staphylococcus aureus, gonorrhea, and chlamydia may develop pelvic inflammatory disease, which may result in fallopian tube obstruction due to scarring. A sexually transmitted disease that is left untreated makes a pregnant woman more likely to experience a stillbirth.

Cervical chronic infection and surgical removal of lesions brought on by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection can also lessen the quantity or quality of cervical mucus.

It may be challenging for women to become pregnant if there are issues with this clingy or slippery substance that builds up on the cervix and in the vagina. Treatment stage:

Constilease 2*2

5. Polyps:

These are benign tumors that develop on the uterus' inside surface. It may be challenging for a woman to maintain pregnancy after conception if she has polyps since they can interfere with the uterus' normal function. Treatment stage:-

Male Infertility and Bacterial Infections

Infertility can be referred to as a condition where a couple has difficulty reproducing after about 2 years of unprotected sex. And one of the causes of male reproductive failure is bacterial infections. There are different types of bacterial infections that can cause male infertility.

Apart from bacterial infections, other factors that can affect male fertility include genetic defects; steroid hormone disorders, hypogonadism, spermatogenesis dysfunction, and ejaculation disorders. But the statistics on what causes male infertility varies significantly in different countries.

When bacteria infect the male reproductive system, they can induce a series of inflammatory responses that impair the male fertility system. And when this occurs, it affects the urethra, seminal vesicles, prostate, epididymis, vas deferens, and testes.

Sperm Cells Trying To Fertilize Female Egg

The known and common bacteria that affect the male reproductive system are Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Ureaplasma urealyticum, C. trachomatis, N. gonorrhoeae, Streptococcus agalactia, and Staphylococcus saprophyticus. These bacteria lead to all kinds of diseases, such as chlamydiosis, gonorrhea, ureaplasmosis, or urinary tract infection all due to bacterial infections which can cause a male reproductive system failure.

How Bacterial Infections Affects Male Fertility

Chlamydia trachomatis is an intracellular bacterium, which can be found in the epididymis, urethra, prostate, and Leydig cells of the testis. Though C. trachomatis is a non-motile bacterium; the rate of propagation is so high that it can infect testicular cell populations i.e. sperm, Leydig, and Sertoli cells within 3 days by “hijacking” testicular macrophages, but how these infected macrophages transfer the infection to other cells of the testes is not yet clear. C. trachomatis infection induces deterioration of sperm quality and is also associated with a low potential for male fecundity.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae is one of the causes of infectious diseases in men’s reproductive systems. When this infection occurs in men, it can cause epididymitis, prostatitis, and urethritis. And it is usually accompanied by a mucous-purulent urethral discharge. Research studies have confirmed that N. gonorrhoeae has a detrimental effect on male fertility. N. gonorrhoeae is a gram-negative bacterium that can attach itself to spermatozoa by its pili and then infects other cells, thereby disrupting their functionality. Spermatogenesis is thus affected and the morphology of the sperm is also equally affected thus leading to infertility.

Ureaplasma urealyticum can also cause male infertility. The attachment of U. urealyticum to the sperm decreases sperm motility but how it affects sperm quality is yet to be known. But research studies have proved that metabolic by-products of U. urealyticum, such as H2O2 and OH−, can be toxic to the sperm which indirectly has the potential of causing infertility.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa: The effect of P. aeruginosa on male infertility is less toxic than other bacteria, but it is a frequent inducer of orchitis, epididymitis, and urethritis. They often trigger chronic infections by eliciting low levels of inflammatory responses and also target sperm tail proteins thus affecting sperm motility.

Brucella tends to propagate and replicate itself in immune cells by escaping and regulating the host immune response thus spreading to the tissues. The maturation of phagolysosome could also be inhibited by Brucella which can also migrate to the endoplasmic reticulum thereby fusing with it to ensure its survival. When these infected bacteria proliferate in the male reproductive system, they can induce cytokines and thus produce a state of inflammation such as orchitis and epididymitis.

Escherichia coli is one of the most significant bacteria associated with bacterial infection-mediated male infertility. E. coli-induced male infertility is multifaceted and includes inflammation of the genitourinary system, failure of steroidogenesis and spermatogenesis, and also deteriorating sperm quality.

Staphylococcus aureus: Staphylococcus sp. is one of the most common bacteria that affect every area of the body causing different kinds of infections and diseases. Most evidence among them is Staphylococcus aureus which can colonize the reproductive system and affect its structure and function. Staphylococci are divided into two groups based on their ability to clot the blood plasma. They are either coagulase-positive or negative, and most of the coagulase-positive species are pathogenic and Staphylococcus aureus is one of them. Staphylococcus aureus is so pathogenic that it can also affect the immune system of the body including the cells and tissues that control the fertility of a man. This effect on men’s fertility can lead to azoospermia and oligospermia which is a condition of low sperm count or no sperm cells at all.

The Effect of Bacterial Infections on Male Fertility

The effective male reproductive system depends mainly on the effective spermatogenesis and synthesis of testosterone. A bacterial infection that is not well treated can cause tissue damage and possible inflammation. Malfunctioning of the tissue cells around the gonads affects spermatogenesis and testosterone synthesis thereby affecting male fertility.

Successful male reproductive ability requires functioning sperm cells, and if the bacterial infection is not checked, it can cause damage to the sperm cells themselves such as chromosome breakage, alteration of cell membrane structure, acrosome injury, including mitochondrial dysfunction. This action of bacterial infection invariably affects the integrity of sperm DNA and chromatin which are also very important in enhancing viable male fertility. And recent studies have proved that damaged DNA harms male fertility.

Male Infertility

Male infertility cases are currently increasing daily at an alarming rate. The man in question might have one or a combination of challenges that result in infertility like low sperm count, low sperm motility, or abnormal morphology. Male Infertility is a condition whereby a man fails to impregnate a woman after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse.

Over the past few decades, and as the things of the world change, so what affects man also changes. The whole world now is a global village with new technology everywhere, and more scientific breakthroughs coming up daily. The side effects of all these new technological developments have adverse effects that are known to scientists and some are yet to be discovered.

Medical Laboratory Scientist like me (Sony Eguabor) has been the stressing the alarming rate of low sperm count for the past ten years. Out of 100 samples of semen Analysis conducted by my colleagues in the laboratory, about 65% of the cases are infertile.

Why Infertility Is Increasing In Men:

[1] Social Life Choices

There are many reasons behind the rise in male infertility. Some of the reasons are related to social changes in our environment and changes in our society. Many years back marriages between men and women were conducted at an early age averaging between 18 – 25 years. But now is a different story. Many couples nowadays are waiting longer to start their families. This might be due to their education. They might want to be well established in their careers, or they might want to be financially free before thinking of marriage.

Delay having a family might have its merits, but it comes with its disadvantages also. The passing years may include more exposure to environmental toxins and sexually transmitted diseases that were not well treated. As we move on in life, at times, we encounter sickness. Some drugs used for treating certain ailment causes erectile dysfunction which leads to male infertility.

The combination of our products - Lycovite, Re-Vive and Vigor Essential will eliminate infertility for life and you’ll be proud to be a father.

[2] Environmental Exposure and Pollution

Environmental pollution is a silent factor that causes male infertility that people are not talking about. The inhaling of substances that can’t be eliminated from our system blocks some pathway that affects fertility. Heat around the genital, chemicals, and toxins can cause deterioration in the quality of sperm. Our concerns are:

Men who are exposed to or use industrial and agricultural chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides, organic solvents, and painting materials are likely to have an infertility problem. The listed above has an impact on sperm quality.

Frequent exposure to X-ray or any form of radiation can reduce sperm count quality.

Frequent use of hot tubs or saunas that can cause overheating affects sperm quality. Similarly, any rise in the scrotal temperature either by using tight clothing or even using a laptop placed directly on the lap for a long period increases temperature in the scrotum, thereby inhibiting the testis from the full performance.

Social environmental lifestyle choices such as the use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco are commonly used by some men who want to feel great among their friends. This act is more predominant with young men. Some call it enjoyment. While some indulge in it out of frustration. All these affect sperm production and its viability.

[3] Testosterone levels:

For a man to perform his role well, the level of testosterone has to be within the normal range. Statistics have shown a decrease in it in recent times. The levels have been noticed to have also dropped beginning in utero and extending into adulthood according to scientist findings. A low level of testosterone is a pointer to infertility. But what causes the low level of testosterone? Many underlying factors are involved in its production which the deficiency of each will affect the other.

The combination of our products - Lycovite, Re-Vive and Vigor Essential will eliminate infertility for life and you’ll be proud to be a father.

[4] Chemical:

With the new scientific developments in all fields of life, the chemical revolution has come to stay with us. The by-product of chemical research can be felt in the area of medicines, new food sources, faster and cheaper mass production of all sorts of necessary products.

Any chemical that inhibits your hormones from performing its function is called an endocrine disruptor. Unfortunately, most of the compounds used in manufacturing plastics i.e. soft and flexible (phthalates) are endocrine disruptors. The compound used to make the plastics harder and stronger (like Bisphenol A, or BPA) are also endocrine disruptors.

In the bloodstream, the presence of phthalates and BPA mimic the action of estrogen. If phthalates level is high in the blood, you’ll most likely be producing less testosterone and fewer sperm cells. So phthalates decrease testosterone production.

The challenge now is that these chemicals are everywhere. BPA compounds can be found in water bottles and food containers. Phthalates are so common that they can be found in coatings of pills, nutritional supplements, used in gelling agents, lubricants, binders, emulsifying agents, and suspending agents. You can also find the phthalates in medical devices, detergents, packaging, paint, and modelling clay, just to mention a few.

The fourth coming generation can acquire this endocrine disruptor from their parent. That means it can be hereditary which signifies a continuous generational problem of male infertility mainly caused by our scientific breakthrough in the use of chemical compounds. Evidence reveals that the effect of these endocrine disruptor’s increases over generations, due to something called epigenetic inheritance.

Most of these factors that are likely to increase male infertility are what one can’t avoid or run away from. Apart from your personal social life choices, other causes are part of our daily living. The best for men going through this condition are to avoid what they can easily avoid and seek medical help. The beauty of male infertility is that it is treatable.

Male infertility symptom manifests mainly when a married woman did not get pregnant after some time. It is possible not to have noticed any previous symptoms before this. It can also depend on what is causing male infertility because other health conditions can make it hard to get a woman pregnant. Sometimes male infertility symptoms in men can be vague. They might not be noticed until a man tries to have a baby.

Since various conditions can cause infertility in men, the signs and symptoms of each can vary greatly.

What are the Symptoms of Male Infertility?

Male infertility is unique to men, and its underlying likely cause is different from that of a woman. Prompt attention to see your doctor should be taken seriously because ignoring the signs and symptoms might lead to what you will not be happy with in the future. Especially fathering a child.

Male infertility is an issue that affects a reasonable percentage of men in our society today. According to experts from Cornell Medical Center, “average of 15 to 20% of couples who wants to achieve pregnancy was unable to do so.” out of this, 50% per cent of those cases were male. Male infertility can be so frustrating especially if the couple needs to have children. Common symptoms of male infertility are:

1. Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is the inability of a man to maintain an erection during sexual intercourse. This symptom is common in men who have infertility issues. Some have a weak erection, while in some, an erection does not last long before going down again. Also, some chronic male infertility cases do not have erections at all. Some even use drugs to have an erection, but this temporary solution is not the answer to the problem. Infertility could be caused due to various neurological and psychological reasons. It can also be linked to his hormone levels imbalance.

2. Varicocele of the Testicles

This condition in the testis occurs when the blood veins of one’s testicles swell and block the flow of sperm. It is not a common defect in men, but more than 10-15% of men are affected. With this condition, the normal functionality of the testis is disturbed, thereby affecting sperm production and its viability. How can you impregnate your partner with this condition?

3. Kallman’s Syndrome

This is a genetic disorder that is characterized by the delay or absence of puberty. It occurs during fetal development in the womb when the Gonadotropins-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons are being inhibited during the path of fetal development from the olfactory area to the hypothalamus. These result in hypogonadism or malfunction of testicles.

Male Infertility Symptom. Sperm Cells unable to fertilize the female egg

4. Changes in Sexual Desire

A man’s fertility is linked with the balance level of the fertility hormone. Too high or too low affects the fertility of men. The sex libido of men is controlled by a hormone called testosterone. In case of any cause of hormonal issues, there is a dip in the testosterone level, then their sexual desire or drive decreases. And this affects their fertility.

5. Abnormal Breast Growth

Some men have their breasts relatively enlarged. This issue can be a sign of male infertility. Your testosterone hormones may be out of balance which needs to be checked out in the laboratory. Estrogen hormone could still be affecting your body. This can affect your virility. Some experts relate these symptoms of infertility to obsessed men who also lacked a balanced diet.

6. Decreased Facial or Body Hair

In some conditions, a decreased facial or body hair growth might be a sign of low testosterone level. And low testosterone invariable leads to infertility. If this kind of change is noticed in your body, please don’t discard it as if it is nothing. Pay a visit to your doctor. If this can be corrected in time, you stand of being free from chains of infertility problems you’ll encounter in the future.

7. Testicular Pain

My advice to all males is not to joke with testicular pain. Because you do not know what is before you regarding this pain, this is the reason why you should see your doctor. It can be a sign of male infertility, and in some rare cases, prostate cancer. The causes of this testicular pain might include testicular tension (twisted testicles), Epididymitis (testicle infection), Hydrocele (building up of fluid around testicles), and a hernia.

8. Small Firm Testicles

Small testis or firmed one, if noticed, should be a thing of concern. Your testicles are involved in sperm production. Not healthy testis, either small or firm, affects the normal production of the sperm cells. Sperm count must be within the normal range. Its viability and motility must be above average before you can impregnate a woman.

9. Low sperm count

Low sperm count results when the sperm cells are below the lower limit of the normal range. Semen Analysis can be performed in the Laboratory if the couple involved has been trying to have a baby for more than a year, and no problem has been found with the female partner. Laboratory tests are needed to confirm if a man is infertile or not. Low sperm count is one of the confirmatory tests for male infertility. If other underlying factors are known, then treatment is easy.

10. Issues with ejaculation

Ejaculation is the end product of men having sex. Ejaculation disorder is a common symptom of male infertility. Some men experience rare ejaculation, while others early ejaculation. Some men have a very low volume of semen during ejaculation. All of these issues come under ejaculation disorder.

Sex is an act that prepares a woman for conception. With ejaculation disorder, deep penetration might be difficult which can affect the sperm cell’s ability to swim and meet the female egg for fertilization.

What is Male Infertility?

Male infertility is the inability to get a lady pregnant. Male infertility starts right from the production level in the testes. What are the causes of male infertility? It is either due to inadequate production of the semen, non-healthy sperm cells production, or non-actively motile sperm cells. Male infertility hormones such as (Luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) are the root causes most times. They have to be between normal ranges. High levels or low, or too low will result in infertility problems.

Male fertility depends on your body’s hormones to produce normal active sperm cells and release them when necessary. During ejaculation, the sperm cells are released into the female’s vagina, where it moves through the woman’s cervix to her uterus and finally into her fallopian tubes. It is there the sperm and the female egg meets. The union of the two is a process called fertilization.

What are the symptoms of male infertility?

Most males do not show any significant symptoms when it comes to infertility. The sex life will be normal. The duration during sex at times depends on the individual, and it is not related to infertility. Male erection and ejaculation do not also affect their fertility. Some female partners might notice watery sperm, but this is not a confirmatory case for infertility.

The main symptom of male infertility is not getting a woman pregnant, and you’ll need a laboratory test to help confirm it. In some men with infertility, they might experience some signs of hormonal problems, such as changes in hair growth or sexual function.

Causes of male infertility

Male infertility can only be identified after a couple’s persistent, unsuccessful attempts at conception, but they are always confirmed after series of laboratory tests. Male infertility can be traced through (a) the hormones responsible for the genesis of the production itself (b) how healthy and active the sperm cells are from the production site to the point of action. Apart from these above-listed conditions, here are ten key factors for us to consider relating to the cause of male infertility.

Sperm Cells Unable To Fertilize Female Egg

Obesity: It is known that obesity has an impact on sperm quality. Fat deposits can overload and influence the metabolism of androgens which play a major role in male traits and reproductive activity, especially testosterone. When this happens, it causes significant alterations in sperm development and sperm DNA in the nucleus.

For men, the sperm count can also be affected because of obesity. Sexual dysfunction can also result from obsessed men.

Smoking: Smoking in any form has a significant negative effect on sperm because of nicotine and cannabinoid receptors in testicular tissue. Oxidative stress which is the result of an imbalance nicotine level in the body influences sperm quality. This, therefore, affects the fertilization process causing infertility. Any form of hard drugs that affects the nervous system also has a by-product effect on the well-being of the sperm cells.

Radiation: It is advisable to always wear a protective covering if you’re working in a place where radiation equipment is used. This kind of rays can penetrate one’s skin and harm internally. Most have linked the use of lap-top by men to cause infertility. In the case of cancer treatment such as chemotherapy, all the fertility preservation control protocol has to be adhered to, otherwise, it will result in infertility.

Nutrition: Unbalanced diet not only causes malnutrition, but lack of proteins food affects cell growth. This indirectly dictates to the sex hormone what to do. An unbalanced diet produces non-balanced sperm cells, which can cause abnormalities. This also affects fertility. Food that is rich in antioxidants can help in preserving male infertility. Dietary deficiencies, such as zinc, vitamin C, folic acid can prompt male infertility.

Supplements and steroids: Be very careful of what goes into your system. Food supplements should be taken with precaution because you do not know what the ingredients it is composed of. Testosterone injections and other steroid preparations took without the supervision of your doctor can cause harm to sperm production. Excess of coffee drinking should be minimized.

High testicular temperature: The testis that produces the sperm cells hangs outside the body in a scrotal sac. They function better in an atmosphere that is lower than the internal body temperature. Any slight increase in testicular temperature affects the sperm quality and functionality.

There are different kinds of factors that can cause changes in testicular temperatures, such as the male’s occupation, such as truck drivers, welders, or firefighters, or habits, such as excessive use of the hot tub or tight clothing, or wearing tight underwear, the use of laptops.

Infections: Not well treated Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) generally can cause infertility in males. Some patients are not used to complying well with their doctor’s prescription. What is supposed to last for 7 days treatments is taken for 5 days. How do you expect proper healing?

Some assume that, as the symptoms of the infection are gone, that means they’re entirely cured. This is wrong. The bacteria might be suppressed or in the process of being eliminated from the body, but when you stop using the drug, they readjust and the whole area will be re-infected again. The gonad cells might be affected, reducing their functionality and resulting in low sperm count.

Genital injuries: Any form of injuries should not be taken lightly, especially if it is related to the genital area. Because you don’t know the extent of the damage done during any form of genital injuries, that is the more reason, you need to inform your doctor in time. Testicular injuries should be treated without delay because of their sensitivity.

Varicocoele: Varicoceles is a condition where the veins in the scrotum are swollen. It affects sperm cell production by blocking proper blood drainage. Testicular temperature becomes high, thereby influencing sperm production and quality. This can cause a low sperm count.

Age: The higher the age, the more likely for men to become infertile. Male fertility hormone decreases with age. You can’t expect the same level of hormones in men over 60 years compared to men between 35 and 45 years. The body changes. Sex performance changes. Erectile dysfunction might set in due to prostate problems. Sperm count might also be affected including its motility. The reproductive potential of men thereby drops with age.

Infertility in males is not a thing to be taken lightly, especially if you want to father a child. The first point of call is your doctor. Your doctor will give you the best advice and treatment and luckily, it is treatable.

Marriage is the union between two parties i.e. man and woman. Children on the other hand supposed to be one of the products of marriage and not marriage by itself. But depending on the mindset of the couples, some did not see it that way. As human beings are different, so their purpose in marriage is different.

The coming in of a child according to some couples boasts the relationship and it also brings them closer together. It also enhances some couples to have a joint focus on how to keep the new arrival to the family.

But for some, they might be married for years without children, and it does not disturb their relationship. Also, some prefer not to have children at all during their marriage. This is agreed upon even before getting married. It all depends on the goal the marriage wants to achieve. We are interested in pointing ways to why infertility might run marriages for those who want to have children.

The cultural pressures in our society make new moms and dads ignore their marriages act because of infertility, especially if it lasts for a long time. Infertility itself creates tension in an individual, not to talk of your spouse. Here are 7 ways why Infertility can ruin your marriage.

Infertility

1: Not Protecting Each Other

When Infertility creeps into a family, especially the newly wedded couples who want children, the unexpected hearing starts coming in. Already tension is been built inside you because of your expectant. Family and friends are naturally also expecting to see changes. Good friends might come politely and ask questions, while others will not. Some family and friends might decide to say it at your back, thereby labeling you barren or impotent.

Some of these words you and your spouse will hear, others you will not hear. What are you doing with the negative words you hear? Is it bringing you down, or motivating you?

The cause of infertility might be either way. How would you answer those awkward questions from families and friends? How would you defend sensitive comments from strangers? If you don’t agree on protecting each other because of sensitive comments, it would hurt your spouse. Care and caution have to be taken so that such negative comments shouldn’t lead to divorce.

2: When Desperation Creep In

Infertility comes with various thoughts in one’s mind. You think that time waits for no one. You think, “will I be able to ever be fertile”? If you’re a woman, you think about whether you can ever carry a baby in your womb. The thought of when the treatment will last will always come into your mind. Anytime you see children playing, it touches your mind.

All these forms of thought can prompt one to be desperate. When desperation comes in, tension also sets in. Tension because of the underlining factors of desperation can lead to being frustrated that one might put the whole blame on your spouse. Continuous frustration and blame can lead to divorce.

3: Goals in Marriage Are Affected

Some couple’s goals in marriage are to live together as husband and wife and also to have children. While some just prefer living together without children. Children are supposed to be the blessing of marriage and not marriage itself. What if the blessing does not come, how do the couples manage their married life? Nobody wants to be sad, and nobody wants to be infertile. Depending on the couple’s agreement before marriage determines how they will cope if children do not come in. Supposing you have agreed with your spouse before getting married to have children, and unfortunately, it is not forthcoming. This can split the marriage.

4: It Stops Romance

When infertility creeps into a marriage, the joy of the marriage is been impaired. The genuine closeness of the spouse will not be like before. Each party is tensed up and anxious. Romancing which is an act that comes naturally is been withdrawn. It comes any time you have been programmed to have sex because of getting pregnant. Sex becomes mechanical, the same as romance. Couples can overlook this act thinking that it will soon be over. But continuous performance can lead to frustration on any of the spouses and ultimately divorce.

5: Communication Breakdown

Communication breakdown is very common with couples that can’t manage infertility in their marriage, especially if they need a child. After much medication and patience, while treating infertility, either of the couples might decide to be negative in his/her approach to solving the issue. In the process of not hurting each other, either of the party might decide to be silent about it. This can lead to communication breakdown and if not handled well with maturity, can also prompt divorce.

6. Tension sets in

The need of having a child after series of medical help has been undergone naturally brings depression. The changes in your mindset when you’re depressed lead to tension. Before the arrival of every monthly menstrual cycle, both parties will be expecting something to happen. Tension even makes it harder for the woman to get pregnant. Tension leads to irritability and with any small misunderstanding, any of the party might flair up. The end product might be a probable divorce.

7. Peace of Mind That Brings Happiness Is gone:

It is only God that gives peace of mind. When you need something for some time with all necessary things done and what you want is not forthcoming, the truth as a human will be unhappiness. Unhappiness brings forth anger, and if one is angry, you will do what you’re not supposed to do by your real self. Unhappiness from either party can call for divorce.

Infertility that leads to divorce is not the best, but who will you blame?
